I’ve always had a deep respect for the craft of blacksmithing and the iconic tools it uses – tools that have shaped human history. It’s this respect that inspired me to create a stained glass round panel that honours the anvil and hammer – essential instruments in the blacksmith’s trade.
The panel features a robust black anvil set atop a simple brown stump, placed against a bright yellow background that brings to mind the vibrant energy of a working forge. The green around the base gives a nod to the forge’s earthly roots.
Using iridescent glass for the anvil’s base and horn, I aimed to mimic the metallic finish of these tools, ensuring the piece catches light in a way that’s reminiscent of metal being struck. This glass choice adds a layer of authenticity to the representation.
Ideal for anyone with an appreciation for traditional blacksmithing, this stained glass panel is a straightforward yet striking piece that pays tribute to the age-old art of shaping metal.
